Toulouse La Ville Rose (Pink City)
Renowned for its art of living and unique charm, Toulouse, a City of Art and History, has managed over the centuries to preserve many reminders of its past.
It offers visitors wonderful opportunities to discover its architectural and artistic heritage through delightful walks. Its historic centre, with its prestigious mansions built in the 16th century by wealthy pastel merchants, and above all its remarkable Renaissance private residences: the Hôtel d’Assézat, which now houses the Bemberg Foundation, the Hôtel de Bernuy, with its octagonal tower, the Hôtel du Vieux-Raisin, and the Hôtel de Clary, to name but a few.
The heart of the city beats around its unmissable Place du Capitole, a lively square surrounded by remarkable buildings such as the Capitole itself, built in the 16th century and now home to the city hall and the theatre. Lovers of religious art should not miss a visit to the magnificent Basilica of Saint-Sernin, with its octagonal bell tower, a true masterpiece of Romanesque art. For those who enjoy a more contemplative experience, the beautiful banks of the Garonne provide the perfect setting for pleasant walks, especially along the Henri Martin promenade and in the Daurade district.
But Toulouse is also a city firmly looking towards the future, particularly dynamic in the field of innovation thanks to its aeronautical centre and space centre.
Open to the public, the Cité de l’Espace and the Airbus facilities are its finest ambassadors!
